Here’s what you need to know about food facility registration.

How Long Does FDA Food Facility Registration Take?

Generally, it takes 4 to 5 business days to complete the registration process if you already have a DUNS number and there are no address mismatches. In some cases, it can be done even faster!

Important Things to Keep in Mind:

  • Accurate information is key! Double-check your facility’s address and DUNS number. Mistakes can cause delays.
  • FDA registration doesn’t mean FDA approval. You still need to follow all food safety rules.
  • The FDA might inspect your facility. Make sure you’re following good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
  • Renew your registration every two years. (Between October 1st and December 31st of even-numbered years).
  • The FDA does not issue a certificate for food facility registration. However, FDAbasics provides a certificate to our clients as proof of registration.
  • There is no publicly searchable database for FDA food facility registration numbers. You will receive the registration number directly from the FDA to your email.
